A succinct course to increase a teacher’s understanding of mental health and mental illness to deliver materials for a 6-lesson curriculum. Staff become equipped to support pupils and teach awareness of what constitutes mental illness in all its forms, reducing the stigma surrounding it. This allows greater empathy on behalf of staff towards pupils, and pupils towards their peers, recognising symptoms in themselves and others. It also gives teachers the knowledge to support and teach pupils to develop and look after their mental health, especially in an age where there is so much pressure on young people from multiple sources such as social media.
